Student Resources Quick Reference

  • Academic Advising (SEC001)
    Ask an advisor to assist in planning your courses to complete your program of study. Veterans interested in pursuing college courses may seek academic advisement in the Veteran’s Upward Bound program. 
  • Athletics (PE102)
    Support your Penn Valley Men’s and Women’s basketball SCOUTS!
  • Bookstore (CC 103)
    Purchase textbooks, class supplies, college apparel, and snacks.
  • Business Services Office (Inside the Student Enrollment Center, SEC019)
    Pay for classes, arrange for third party payment, and get information about your account or payment plan options.   Submit or request non-financial aid records or documents.
  • Bus Passes
    Ride the city buses for free in 2016-2017 with an MCC student ID.  Get your ID in the library.  Students are expected to have their student ID available while on campus.

    Enhance your academic experience, build friendships and enhance your resume by getting involved! Find the club or organization for you.

    Find a counselor to assist you with selecting your area of study and career pathway.

    Career services can assist you with creating a resume, cover letter, and preparing for interviews. Need career counseling? Visit counseling in CC234.
  • Celebration of Life Garden  
    Find an outdoor place for reflection next to the backyard, outdoor gathering space.

  • Child Care (F002)
    Find year-round childcare at Plaza De Ninos, a preschool for children, ages two – five.
  • Computer Labs (HU 103) (HSI 206) (ST 111-Outer Area)
    Find computers at the Instructional Lab in HU 103 and at HSI 206 at the Health Science Institute. The tutoring center (Learning Resources 202) and the library also have computers for student use.
  • Counseling (CC234)
    Speak to a counselor for free regarding personal issues, your career, and connections to community resources.
  • Disability Support Services (HU001)
    For assistance with accommodations for your disability, you will need to provide documentation to DSS.
  • English as a Second Language - Applied Language Institute (HU029)
    Learn English in classes at Penn Valley so that you can successfully take the classes you need for your degree or certification program.
  • Family Restrooms
    Change your baby in the restrooms in the Student Enrollment Center.
  • First Year Experience
    Prepare for a good first year by scheduling and attending a New Student Orientation.
  • Food Pantry – Scout Cupboard (HU001)
    Find short–term food assistance. Inquiries can be made in the Disability Support Services Office (HU 001), Campus Life (CC 200) or Counseling (CC 234).
  • Food Services and Vending
    Hungry? The cafeteria is located in the Campus Center, zero level.  A coffee cart is available at the Health Science Institute (HSI) serving beverages, sandwiches, and snacks.  Vending is available in the cafeteria, PE building (first floor), the campus center lobby, the fifth floor of the campus center, and at the HSI in the Code Blue café and off the main lobby.
  • Game Area
    Do you want to play a game? Ping pong, air hockey and board games are available for recreation on the third tier of the cafeteria (Campus Center, zero level).
  • Gears Program (Literacy Education)
    Find assistance to improve your reading by taking advantage of this free program that supports reading literacy.  Contact our counselors in CC234 for more information.
  • Lactation Room (ST B339) (HSI 408Y)
    A nursing mother? Contact the Dean’s or President’s office for the entry code, for HSI contact staff in 408 or 410.
  • Leadership and Service
    Get involved, give back to the campus and community through our various community service programs such as MLK Day of Service.  The Campus Life and Leadership Office conducts various leadership and service activities throughout the year such as their service trips and Annual Leadership Summit in the spring. 
  • Library (Learning Resource Center- LR101)
    Looking for a place to study, do research, make copies, access reserve materials, use the computers, work with your small group, check out materials or get your student ID? Visit the Library.
  • Lounging Space
    Take advantage of the seating in halls and alcoves for conversation, small groups, and personal quiet time.
  • Mindfulness / Reflection Area (CC 229)

    he Mindfulness/Reflection area is open to students and employees. We invite members of our community to take a mental reset and renewal break. The space can be used for a quiet space to sit for a little bit, for meditation, for prayer, for quiet reflection. The Mindfulness/Reflection Area is located at MCC – Penn Valley in the Campus Center Suite 229 behind the curtain. It is open from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

    Please be respectful while using this space. Check with the front desk to see if someone is already using it.

  • Minority Male Initiative
    Looking for other male students to talk to, figure out how to be successful in college, and have fun? Inquire about the new ‘Men of Color-MCC-Penn Valley’ Program, located in the Campus Life and Leadership Office (CC200).
  • Outdoor gathering Areas
    • The Backyard located behind the upper level cafeteria features picnic tables, and is next to the celebration of life garden.
    • The Outlook is located above the education center features benches, garden spaces, and a fabulous view of the downtown skyline.
    • The Turner Courtyard is in the quad between the Physical Education, Campus Center, and the Library/ Humanities building.
  • Parking
    Get your parking sticker at the campus police office, CC102.
  • Police (CC102)
    Do you have questions about MCC police safety/ emergency services?
  • Printing/Copying (LR101)
    Print from computers in the Library and the Computer Lab. Copiers are available in the library,Learning Resource Center.
  • Project Success (TRIO Program-CC231)
    Looking for extra support at MCC-Penn Valley? Project Success is a free program funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  Find out if you qualify for academic support, transfer assistance, and cultural enrichment by visiting the Project Success team.
  • Student ID’s (LR101)
    Get your ID in the library.  Students are expected to have their student ID available while on campus. 
  • Testing Center (Humanities 009)
    Take a variety of tests in our center (placement, make-up, distance education, and specialized testing).
  • Transfer Advising Center (CC003)
    Are you thinking about transferring? College partners are available to meet with you to assist with admission and transfer after graduation.
  • Transportation
