MCC-Penn Valley Flag Replacement Ceremony

Click for Story

MCC-Penn Valley’s Campus Center Lobby filled with people Monday, October 1, there to witness the replacement of the Vietnam flag. The flag ceremony was held to take down the official flag of Vietnam, and resurrect the Freedom and Heritage flag in its place.

The flag of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, which had been originally hung, had come with a United Nations flag set, ordered by the College.

The 816 Bicycle Collective

Click for Story

The 816 Bicycle Collective is Kansas City’s first and only bike co-op, similar to those found in other major cities like New York and Chicago. They are a non-profit organization located at 3109 Troost Avenue, and their purpose is to "rescue and repair bicycles" and then redistribute them to the public at no cost.

According to the group’s pamphlet, their stated purpose is "to empower individuals by providing the education, materials and skills that facilitate self-reliant transportation."

Editorial: MCC Bookstores Must Go

Click for Story

When in the course of human events, our college bookstore becomes an unseemly way of taking more money from students — who already pay enough in taxes to be entitled to a free college education anyway — we the people should, without undue ceremony but with overdue common sense, close that college bookstore, as it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it.

That's right. Let's get rid of King George, slavery, and the Penn Valley Bookstore.
