New PV Nursing Facility

click for story

An audience consisting predominately of nursing students gathered on September 30, 2008 in CC501 to hear a presentation addressing the new nursing facility for Penn Valley. So what's the big news? Penn Valley is upgrading their nursing department to ensure that students have the latest up to date equipment and a new facility to house it.

Jackie Snyder, Chancellor of MCC, opened the presentation. She revealed that Penn Valley recently bought a new building on Broadway just two blocks south of our campus. The reason for the upgrade is because the demand in healthcare has become substantial. It is predicted that by the year 2010 the nursing field will double.

River Market Tradition

For the last 150-or-so years the River Market has been a huge part of Kansas City and it's still a mainstay for Kansas City residents. Not only is it a place to socialize and buy fresh foods, it is increasingly becoming a place to settle in and live.

Today, Kansas City citizens gather in the River Market Square to eat, shop, and hang out. On the weekends, children can catch a ride on a pony or in the barrel train. People can purchase fresh food, plants, and other wares from local farmers and vendors as well as permanent shops located inside and outside the Square.

Editorial: Undignified Campaigning

Click for story

Politics have never strictly been about the issues, and that remains the case in this election. With less than two weeks left until Super Tuesday the campaign is starting to get downright ugly. Candidates are using ad campaigns to completely slander their opponent, and some of the messages being expressed are enough to make one sick.

Most of the more recent ad slams have come from John McCain and the Republican Party, although Barak Obama and the Democratic Party are not without guilt themselves.
