Since the dedication of the Anna and Kemper Carter Center for Visual Arts and Imaging Technology at Penn Valley in March 2003, the gallery, tucked away on the building's first floor, has housed the artwork of many local artists. Currently on display is the artwork of local arts advocate, activist, and artist Linda Lighton.

Rock and Roll Fashion Show

What would happen if local bands and local designers got together and threw a party? That question was answered Friday, February 22 at the Crosstown Station, located at 1522 McGee.

The Rock and Roll Fashion show set out to pair local bands and designers together and entertain the masses at the same time. The event was hosted by 96.5 the Buzz's Jeriney, of "Homegrown Buzz," touting a band line-up that included The Life and Times, and should have been a local success, or at least an entertaining way to spend a Friday night.

Editorial: We Are What We Meat

We Americans are literally trying to turn the world into ourselves. If it's not us, we want it to be, and either directly or behind the scenes we're busily coopting nearly everything we see into foodstuff or foodstuff-making/dispensing paraphernalia: using more and more land, animals, plants, materials and factories for the production of our national diet. Despite all convenient truths and greenspeak to the contrary, Americans in deed blithely act as if the earth was made for us, and not vice versa.  Ultimate narcissists, we believe the earth wants to be us.
