The Mormon faith has been in the public eye quite often recently. Sect leader Warren Jeffs was put on the F.B.I.’s ten most wanted list. Polygamy is featured on television shows such as Dateline and 20/20 on a regular basis. When former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, a Mormon, announced his candidacy for President, a CNN poll showed that almost thirty percent of the country would not vote for a Mormon.
While the Mormon faith is in the news, most non-Mormons know little about their beliefs, such as the connection to the Kansas City metro area.
According to Utah Lighthouse Ministries
When the Earth was flooded, Smith said that Noah built his Ark here, and when the waters subsided, Noah found himself in the Holy Land of modern-day Israel.
Smith also prophesied that another great festival would be held in Adam-ondi-Ahman, attended again by Adam. In this festival, a great council would convene. Each member of this council would bear a key of authority to the city. It is said that Jesus will return to the Earth at this festival. Adam will then collect the keys of authority and give them to Jesus, bringing peace on Earth.
To commemorate Adam calling his family together in this festival, Smith said a temple was to be built on the soil of Adam-ondi-Ahman.
Thus, today, we have Community of Christ Temple, located at 1001 W Walnut St. in Independence. This temple dominates the Independence skyline. Its build is similar to a spiral staircase, and it is believed to be the walkway of Jesus upon his return.
If this event happens as foretold by Joseph Smith, residents of Kansas City will have front row seats at the Revelation.

When Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden, Smith said they traveled south and settled in what is now Independence. This is where the city of Adam-ondi-Ahman was founded. This city held a great festival, attended by Adam and his family.
