On Wednesday, March 28, MCC - Penn Valley will hold a Remembrance Day to honor and remember those close to us who have passed away. The event is sponsored by the Office of Campus Life and Leadership and the Counseling and Advising Department.
Members of the MCC – PV community are welcome to post pictures, information about their loved ones, and other memorials in the upper level of the cafeteria on this day. "It's not just students. It's faculty, and staff, and the whole community," says Maureen Kennedy, whose mother’s passing was part of the reason for the event’s beginning.
A workshop on grief and an opportunity to create memorials will be held on Monday, March 26, in the upper level of the cafeteria, as part of the Office of Campus Life and Leadership’s Must Know Monday series. Art supplies will be provided. Must Know Mondays are free to MCC – PV students.
Remembrance Day is an annual event, and this is its third year. "The first year, we had a few people, maybe twenty. And we had a few more last year," says Kennedy.
The event is not only a chance to remember those who have died, but also an opportunity to talk to others who have undergone similar crises. "It’s a shared experience," says Kennedy.
