Soon everyone will be chanting "Happy New Year!" saying their 2007 New Year's resolutions, and beginning the New Year with a fresh start.

A New Year means staying safe. With all of the excitement of the coming year you have to stay safe in whatever you do for the holidays.

You can have a bonfire, a fireworks display, or even shoot your shotgun in the air as a way of celebrating the New Year, but these are all illegal, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Being overjoyous can lead to not thinking about the ones around you, and their safety as well. Staying safe and watching out for everyone can save lives.

It is wonderful to bring in the New Year with a bang. Just remember to do it with caution to protect yourself and others.

However you choose to celebrate the New Year, celebrate it with life. Have a safe and happy New Year.
