Holiday spirit can be defined in many ways, but in its simplest form, it is the season of giving. Penn Valley's Criminal Justice Association (CJA) is trying to do just that: give.
The CJA, a new student-based organization on campus, is hosting a toy drive to assist women detained in the Jackson County Detention Center. The group is hoping to provide these women's children with holiday gifts.
The CJA was organized in September of this year. As Vanessa Francises, a member, says, "The purpose of the organization is to engage students in criminal justice forums, job fairs and criminal justice academic programs." She further states, "Equally important is assisting our community."
The organization is managing the toy drive from November 27 through December 11. The drop-off is located on the third floor of the Humanities building in Human Science Division Office room 301.
For more information regarding the organization and how you can join or help, contact Dr. Karen Curls, CJA Advisor.
