Some Famous Veterans

Tony Bennett - Singer

Bennett served in the Army during World War II. He served in France and in Germany. He studied voice under the G.I. Bill while working as an elevator operator.

George Steinbrenner - Principal Owner of the New York Yankees

Steinbrenner enlisted in the Air Force in 1952. He was an aide to a commanding general at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Ohio, where he was in charge for setting up athletic programming and sports events. Steinbrenner then joined his family business, allowing him to purchase the New York Yankees.

Montel Williams - Talk Show Host, Motivational Speaker

Williams enlisted in the Marines after high school graduation in 1974. He was accepted to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. He served three years aboard submarines, serving as a lieutenant. Williams got his start as a motivational speaker in Kansas City, teaching the importance of leadership and overcoming obstacles.
