The Gregg-Klice Community Center, located at 1600 East 17th Street, is a place anyone can go to work out, play basketball, swim, use the internet, or just hang out with friends. There are also camps and sports teams that you or your children can join.
The Gregg Center offers a dance school, kickboxing and boxing trainers, swim teams (in the summer), and swim lessons.
GKCC recently acquired a new director, Carol Green. She's making big changes by adding more youth programs: cheerleading for the Bitty Ball basketball team, poetry readings of personal material, three on three water basketball tournaments, and more.
The Gregg Center has a small workout gym with an assortment of equipment. Trainers are willing to work around your schedule. The gym opens at 6:00am.
The swimming pool is open all year round, six days a week. GKCC provides aqua-sized classes and arthritis swimming sessions. The water temperature is kept at 86 degrees.
Swim classes start on the first day of the month and last four weeks. The cost is $30 for 45 minutes per week of instruction. Students are taught how to swim, along with fundamentals such as how to swim with your eyes open and how to retrieve objects underwater.
Adult classes are Tuesday and Thursday at 7 - 7:45pm. They're somewhat faster-paced and focus on all the strokes: butterfly, side stroke, front crawl, back crawl, and breast stroke.
Kickboxing, boxing, a hot tub, a sauna, and a steam room are also available.
