MCC Penn Valley dedicated the Anna and Kemper Carter Center for Visual Arts and Imaging Technology in March, 2003. The Carter Art Center Gallery invites all students and faculty to experience the arts and be inspired to learn more about the exhibits and artists they feature.
In order to create diversity throughout the community with national and local artists,"we choose art that is good for the students," says Gallery Director Bernadette Torres.
For an artist to be considered for an exhibition, he or she must submit a proposal with supporting materials. The Gallery offers solo and group exhibits.
"A lot of people do not know about the Arts Center," says Torres. "We encourage all students and faculty to come and see the shows.”
In April each year, the Gallery has a student exhibit and sale for two weeks. "This gives the students who may not have the experience with art galleries a chance to experience [our] Gallery,” Torres says.
She urges all patrons to become members of Friends of the Gallery, to help provide financial and community support.
Exhibit hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 12-6pm, and Saturday 12-3:00pm.
